Draw near to God

‘Let us pray with confidence the prayer Jesus gave us’. These words introduce the great gift Jesus gave his friends at the Eucharist each Sunday (and at every meeting of Christians), the LORD’S PRAYER. He taught his friends (and we are taught) to pray with intimacy. Jesus taught them to draw near to God. We draw near to God in all states of mind and heart, in all joys and catastrophes. ‘The heart of Christian prayer is getting over the idea that God is somewhere a very, very long way off’. Rowan Williams Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist and Prayer. SPCK 6414 p. 6 6 .

Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, 22 let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19, 22

MULOA has helped members in Zimbabwe draw near to God and in so doing recognise their personal and corporate capacity for loving action. When a widow’s wooden cabin caught fire and she lost everything, members built her a new house. Intimacy with the living God in Jesus brings us nearer to Him and our true selves.
