Sermon 7 June 2020

  • The last thing in Matthew’s Gospel is Jesus’ command to his disciples before he ascends.
  • In this speech he sends them out into the world to make disciples.
  • Two things are required, baptize and teach obedience.
  • The thing is that the baptism must be done in the name of Father Son and Holy Spirit. Why?
  • I believe it is not just about saying the names, but about their part in the baptism.
  • Each person of the Trinity plays their part in the baptism.
  • The Trinity works together.
  • Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians focus’ on the relationship of the believers.
  • What does it have to do with the Trinity?
  • Paul knows that the faith is about relationships.
  • Full restoration could be about each of us, or about the whole community.
  • The Trinity is about the divine relationship.
  • The Church lives in the Triune relationship and lives it out.
