Thought for the Week 31 March

Anglican Mothers Union Australia

Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices, who wondrous things has done, in whom this world rejoices; who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.                              TiS 106

Mothers come in all shapes and sizes. Jesus displays there are no gender barriers to mothering qualities. Priest and pastors bless us on our way, Sunday school teachers and footy coaches give countless gifts of love. Praise God for the gifts bestowed on all humankind, as we thank God for our church’s special seasonal acknowledgement of mothers and mothering.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Luke 13: 34

As we remember members on St Lucia, Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines in the West Indies, we can give thanks to God for MU Parenting Program. Rosie, a member and alerted to mothering possibilities for the program, observed a small child in her yard. She called out to him, his mother appeared and thanked Rosie for her concern. Sensing she was called to ministry with the family, Rosie visited the next day, the mother tearfully admitted she needed help and Rosie has been a loving friend of the family ever since.
